So if they?d wish, this

So if they?d wish, this was her plan.

Finn, wanted to remain where he was, for it was the only kingdom he knew, alone perhaps, or perhaps not. In a way he was a gentle giant, perhaps forced to be, for he would be the only one of his kind against a host of other races and armies. Should he offend anyone, there was no place to hide. He knew the king had a tall daughter, and perhaps someday he?d allow them to mate (tall meaning: he was twenty feet, and she about eight or nine), it was in the back of his mind, but way back there. The king now was nowhere to be found.

Henceforward, the armies left the cliff dwellings; leaving Finn behind. As fascinated as she was with the humanoids and their control room, she had no time to explore it further; she had to gain control of her armies before they killed one another and dipped the balance of the planet. In a way, you could say, the picture she saw was bigger than her wants; nonetheless, she took on the rulership of the three armies and sent the Manticores off (the one-hundred off them), back to show their tribe how to make fire.

She now had her garment on, and felt it was a symbol (since the cliff dwellers wore cloths) that she?d have to return someday and perhaps conquer the cliff kingdom, but for the time being, her army and she needed to leave.

?It was at this intersection of her life on the planet her reputation started to precede her.

Preview; FAB COLLECTIVE St Luke’s Church

0 Comments | Liverpool Echo (Liverpool, England), July 23, 2010

Byline: Catherine Jones

THEIR first exhibition was a major success and now the Fab Collective is returning to St Luke’s ‘bombed out’ church with a new show.

Having a Do runs from July 31 for a month at the Leece Street/Berry Street landmark.

“This exhibition looks at how people celebrate life through the events that they go to,” explains the Collective’s Mark Maloney.

“Throughout the year we get invited to all sorts of different events including birthday parties, retirement dos, funerals, christenings, weddings, new year, religious and cultural festivals etc.

“At each one the setting, the mood and the colours change and people dress differently according to each occasion.

“Each event generates different emotions and feelings. We thought it would be interesting – and fun – to capture these in our photos.

Images set to be shared include one of photographer Peter Goodbody’s nephew taken at a family gathering on New Year’s Eve, a street busker and revellers at Ladies Day at Aintree.

Images of ordinary people captured during a “Fab Faces Day” in May will also be on display.

The Fab Collective is a diverse group of Liverpool photographers who share a passion for capturing the city of Liverpool and its residents in their pictures.

They all met through the Flickr photo sharing website, and many of them exhibited their work in the ‘real world” for the first time in the Up to Something exhibition in 2009.

The group was involved with Urban Strawberry Lunch’s Hollywood Homeless project, in which members mentored people from the homeless community.

They have also have spent a day exploring whether the camera or the photographer makes the image, with the help of some disposable cameras.

Most recently they hit the streets of Liverpool to take portrait photographs of ‘Fab Faces’ for a montage that will be displayed in the exhibition. Members of the 24-strong Fab Collective include Dave and Jen Allanson, Pete Carr, Sam Bytheway, Peter Goodbody, Jan Rogerson and Hollie Edwards.

Further details of all the projects can be seen on the Fab Collective website www.fabcollective.

While your pregnancy is a factor in your job search ? and more of a factor if your due date is coming up quickly or if, for instance, you’re expecting more than one baby ? being pregnant is no reason to put off a job search. You will need to incorporate your post-baby plans into your interview conversation, so that you’re ready to answer questions about your return to work, your ability to manage your job with a newborn, and so on. But the fact that you’re expecting shouldn’t be the primary, or even a major, focus of your discussions during interviews.

If you’re not “out” with your pregnancy ? if you haven’t reached the point where you’re generally letting people know about your condition ? it’s not necessary or appropriate to say anything about it during an interview or when you’re considering a job offer.

A simple Google search for “work at home” yields over 25 million results. Such searches on Google also expose you to the insane world of Google ads. To the marketing industry, these ads are called Adwords, and they flo

Many sites behind a given Adwords advertisement are unsubstantiated, auto-generated spam sites that throw ridiculous and unattainable products in your face. Therefore, the work at homer must stray away from Adwords, and navigate through the remainder of the “too-good-to-be-true’s” and the solid, honest programs.

So once you differentiate between the scam spam and the realistic opportunities, you are left with a few options:

First, you could apply to work for a job at a major company that you know employs work at home personnel. Some of these companies include JetBlue airlines, Dell, OfficeDepot.com and many, many telemarketing companies that require you to pay your own hefty phonebills and well as buy your equipment.

Or alternatively, you could take your future into your own hands and begin making your own income over the internet.

If you’re going to use a resume writer, consider looking for some of these traits:

* Experience either working in your field or helping a considerable number of people in your field with their resumes.

* Experience working as a recruiter.

* Experience working as a manager who made hiring decisions.

After creating the perfect resume, you then need to distribute it. You’ll likely be sending some professionally printed hard copies, especially to “A list” companies or organizations you’ve set your sights on. But just as likely, you’ll be distributing
other copies electronically.

Your resume must be :

1.Searchable:

Someone searching the Internet resume banks for the perfect candidate (you) needs to be able to weed out all the unqualified candidates, which potentially number in the tens of thousands nowadays. Typically, they’ll enter search terms intended to
eliminate the vast majority of posted resumes and select the most promising.
However, if you have technical qualifications that can be searched in different ways – “Bachelor of Science” and “B.Sc.” for example, your resume should use both variants so that a search engine finds you either way.And if you possess job experience that’s highly relevant to the job in question, be sure to describe it in the most common ways that it would likely be searched on.

2.ASCII Format:

Your professionally laid out and formatted paper resume may end up looking like gibberish if simply transformed into an electronic copy.

ICON OF SKIES IS BACK TO ITS BEST

0 Comments | Lincolnshire Echo, Jul 22, 2010 | by Paul Whitelam

A FIRST World War fighter aircraft built in Lincoln is now on display in a museum after its restoration – in Poland.

The single-seater Sopwith Camel F1 biplane, serial number B7280, was made by city firm Clayton & Shuttleworth.

It was being flown by Captain Herbert Patey on September 5, 1918, when he was shot down behind German lines in Belgium.

Patey survived his crash-landing and was taken prisoner.

The Germans then repaired his aircraft and flew it until the end of the war when it was taken to Berlin and exhibited in an air museum.

It was moved to Poland for safekeeping when Berlin suffered heavy bombing during the Second World War and put into storage.

In September 2007 the Echo learned the basic shell of B7280 was at the Polish Aviation Museum, in Krakow, where it was being restored.

Now, the transformation is almost complete, with only some minor work required, including on the wheels and windscreen.

Industrial historian and author Stephen Pullen, 43, of North Greetwell, said it was encouraging to see a piece of Lincoln’s aviation industry preserved.

“It is nice that they have saved it and in years to come perhaps it could be made to fly,” said Mr Pullen, who is the editor of Heritage Commercials Magazine.

“It’s good that in this day and age and in a time of cut backs and recession the restoration has continued.”

Captain Patey gained 11 victories and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He was released by the Germans and returned home in December 1918, but died in the flu epidemic the following February.

Andy Kemp, a member of First World War aviation heritage charity Cross & Cockade International, said the group was delighted the museum had seen fit to restore such a historically significant aircraft.

He said: “We look forward to seeing the story of the restoration published, including all the original detail that will undoubtedly have come to light during the process.”

Lincoln’s biggest manufacturer of Sopwith Camels was Ruston Proctor & Co Ltd.

Ruston archivist Ray Hooley, who lives in North Hykeham, said: “Few Lincolnians know that Lincoln was a major aircraft production centre in the First World War.

“Clayton & Shuttleeworth also produced 46 of the war’s largest aircraft – the Handley-Page 0/400 bomber.

“Other aircraft builders in Lincoln included Robeys – and Marshalls at Gainsborough.”

FAST FACTS THE Sopwith Camel F1 entered military service in May 1917 as a single-seater fighter aircraft armed with two Vickers .303 machine guns.

Maximum speed was about 118mph, maximum altitude 19,000ft, with a range of two-and-a-half hours.

Its wingspan was 28ft and the aircraft weighed 889lb.

About 5,490 Sopwith Camels were produced by various manufacturers nationally in the First World War.

Ruston Proctor & Co Ltd was the biggest producer, making about 1,600 Sopwith Camels. Clayton & Shuttleworth made more than 500.

A Clayton & Shuttleworth-built Camel, B7270, piloted by Canadian Captain Arthur ‘Roy’ Brown, downed the legendary Red Baron in April 1918. Baron von Richtofen was hit by a single bullet and died of his wounds after landing his plane.

HQ moves to a whole new level to beat flooding

0 Comments | Citizen Gloucestershire, The, Jul 21, 2010

GLOUCESTERSHIRE County Council itself was not immune, but three years on businesses too have made real progress in protecting themselves from future crisis.

Shire Hall In July 2007, flood waters affected some of the buildings at Gloucestershire County Council’s Shire Hall complex.

Offices, stores and two plant rooms were all affected and the main complex was closed down for between seven and 10 days due to the damage and the lack of a safe mains water supply. In order to protect the at risk buildings in the future, a range of flood protection measures have been introduced at two of the buildings. Mark Anderson, of the Shire Hall Facilities team, explained: “The Quayside House plant room, electrical sub-station and boiler house, plus a second basement boiler room are now protected by a combination of flood boards, sealed masonry walls, flood gates, and sump pumps. “Within a number of buildings electrical circuits have been raised to above potential flood water levels; within the Quayprint File Store, staff use the lowest level shelves for low priority items, whilst in the on-site furniture store much of the stored items are now kept on the raised platforms.”

Chipping Campden BRI Campden BRI employs about 300 staff at its site in Chipping Campden, which has flooded a number of times in recent years resulting in widespread property flooding. Following the 2007 floods, the damage at Campden BRI was extensive
